Telehealth & Prescribing Policy

Last updated: September 4, 2026

Vacation Medicine is a physician-led virtual urgent care service operated by FirstCall Medical Group, PLLC (doing business as Vacation Medicine). We provide same-day telehealth consultations with board-certified physicians. This policy describes how we practice — specifically what we do, what we do not do, and the guardrails our physicians work within.

Our commitments

  • We treat patients only where we are licensed. A patient must be physically located in a U.S. state where our physicians hold an active, unrestricted medical license. This is verified before any visit or payment; patients outside our licensed states are not seen.
  • We do not own, operate, or partner with any pharmacy. We have no financial relationship with any pharmacy and receive no compensation tied to prescriptions or medications.
  • We do not store, stock, or distribute medications. We hold no medication inventory and never dispense, ship, or hand out any drug directly. We are not a pharmacy or a drug distributor.
  • We do not prescribe controlled substances. By policy, our physicians do not prescribe any controlled substance (DEA Schedules II–V) — including ADHD stimulants, benzodiazepines, opioids, and testosterone/TRT.

Where we can see you (licensure)

Our physicians provide care only to patients who are physically located, at the time of the visit, in a state where the treating physician holds an active, unrestricted license. At the start of every visit the patient attests to their current physical location, and our platform blocks any visit — before payment — for a location outside our licensed footprint. We do not knowingly evaluate or treat patients outside the states where we are licensed.

How prescriptions work

When a physician determines that a prescription is clinically appropriate during a visit, the prescription is transmitted electronically to the patient’s own pharmacy of choice (for example, a local CVS or Walgreens). The patient pays that independent pharmacy directly for any medication. Vacation Medicine never sells, supplies, bills for, or handles the medication itself. A prescription is never guaranteed; whether one is appropriate is a clinical decision made by the physician during the visit.

No pharmacy relationship, no medication inventory

Vacation Medicine is not a pharmacy and does not partner with, own an interest in, or receive any payment from a pharmacy. We maintain no inventory of prescription medications and do not dispense, compound, ship, resell, or otherwise distribute any drug. Nothing on this website or in our service should be understood as the sale of medication.

Controlled substances

As a matter of policy, our physicians do not prescribe controlled substances of any schedule. This includes, without limitation, ADHD stimulant medications (such as amphetamine and methylphenidate products), benzodiazepines, opioid pain medications, and testosterone or other anabolic-androgenic therapies. Patients who need ongoing management of these medications are referred to an appropriate primary-care or in-person provider.

What we charge for

Every charge processed by Vacation Medicine is a fee for a physician consultation or membership — a professional medical service. We do not bill for medications, pharmacy products, or any physical goods, and no medication cost is ever bundled into or processed through our payments. Our charge types are the single-visit consultation fee, the membership fee, and the annual membership fee.

Scope of care & emergencies

Telehealth is appropriate for many common, non-emergency conditions. It is not appropriate for every situation. If a condition requires an in-person examination, imaging, labs, a procedure, or emergency care, our physicians will tell you and direct you to the right setting — consistent with our guarantee, honest care, or it’s free. This service is never for emergencies. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911.

Privacy

Clinical information is handled in accordance with HIPAA and our Privacy Policy. Patient records are maintained in our HIPAA-compliant electronic health record.
